There are two main ways to search the AA Archives catalogue:
1) Browse The Collections
This allows you to browse through the whole 'tree' structure of the catalogue, moving from a general topic to a specific item(s) - viewing records within their surrounding context.
Thus browsing through the 'Administrative Records' branch of the catalogue would provide descriptions of governance records, such as
Council minutes and sub committees, alongside the AA's legal, financial and property records.
Similarly, browsing through the 'Educational Records' branch of the catalogue would provide details of AA membership and AA School records,
including student drawings, social clubs and activities.
Alongside each branch of the catalogue is a '+' and '-' sign which allows you to reveal or hide each sub-branch.
Clicking on a branch itself will bring up a catalogue description for that particular record or collection of records.
2) Keyword(s) Search
This allows you to search the catalogue by keyword(s).
Using the ’Any Text’ search box is the most comprehensive way of searching the catalogue, it will search across all text fields in the catalogue.
It is also possble to search across specific fields such as 'Title', 'Description', 'Date', or any such combination.
The narrower your search terms are, the fewer hits you will receive.
If you wish to perform a more sophisticated search click the ‘Refine Search Criteria’ button and qualify your search with one of the following options:
'With all the words'
'With at least one of the words'
'Without the words'
