| Arrangement | Student work is arranged into four series, spanning 1947-1899, 1900-1949, 1950-1999, 2000-. The series are based upon student graduation / leaving dates. Within these series, material is arranged alphabetically by student family name and then chronologically by project. |

| Use_Restrictions | Photography for personal study is permitted across the majority of the collections, however please confirm with the Archives staff before taking photographs. No flash photography or filming is permitted. Preservation restrictions still apply and photographs taken in the Archives are still subject to copyright, privacy and data protection legislation. The photographs must only be used for personal reference purposes, not for commercial purposes. |

| Admin_History | Prior to the foundation of the AA Archives in 2007, student work does not appear to have been systematically retained by the school. Correspondingly, the AA Archives' holdings of student work are not comprehensive and some decades are better represented than others. The current acquisition policy requires the retention of work by AA Diploma Honours students and the recepients of the AA's programme of awards and scholarships. Current student projects are acquired in both digital and paper format, when available. |
| Custodial_History | The majority of the work which has survived in the AA's possession, was brought together in 1988, when they were noted as stored with library material in the basement of Nos. 10-11 Percy Street. In 1991 these records were moved to the library book store in the basement of 16 Morwell Street, before being sent for storage with Olympic Removals, Ltd., Waltham Abbey. With the establishment of the AA Archives they were brought back to the AA and are housed within the Archives rooms. During the 1950s and 1960s, it appears that exemplary projects were stamped 'Store' and held in a storage room, so as to be exhibited at the end of year review. Many of these drawings do not appear to have survived and were either returned to the students concerned or destroyed. |
